America: Stop the Insanity!

The tragedy in Tucson, Arizona is a wake up call to all Americans that it is time that we begin to be accountable for our actions: be they verbal, written, or physical.

More importantly, it is a call for all public figures to realize that the tone they set might be inciting anger and hate in this country. We cannot continue in this manner and still maintain our liberty and freedom everyone is so freely claiming they are entitled to possess. Yes, all Americans and residents in the country are entitled to the pursuit of happiness but that does not include being the victim of others' hatred and volatile attitudes.

It is time for all politicians, be they Republican, members of the Teabag Party or Democrats to realize that they were elected to work for the United States not for their own aggrandizement. The country needs them to put politics aside and start thinking about what is best for this country as a whole. Lord knows the world is leaving America in the dust in terms of educational rankings and the like.

My prayers go out to the victims of the senseless shootings and to Rep. Gabrielle Giffords and to their families.

Now it is up to the media to hold public figures accountable for volatile rhetoric that incites hatred.

There is no longer any excuse for stupidity.

Comments:
It is truly a tragic thing that something like this happen right after the new year.

In light of something like this, it is essential for people not to over react and realize it is in moderation that extremism has no place in this world. Politicians and the media alike should stop with the extreme rhetoric and hyperbolae. That at least is a place to start with the spirit of calm and moderation.
